What is the unit of measurement for ordering topsoil to be delivered? Pounds? Cubic Feet?

Looking to buy dirt (40 lb bags?) to fill in a flower bed that is 23 foot x3 foot x 8 inches.

What is the unit of measurement for ordering topsoil to be delivered? Pounds? Cubic Feet?
if your buying it in bulk it's sold in yards, you should need bout 1 yard maybe a little more for your application
Reply:It's usually cubic yards or cubic feet.
Reply:If you want a certain quantity it would be in Litres (it's measured as a liquid for some reason)

but if you want it to cover a certain area you'd ask for it in Metres^2
Reply:I did some research for ya,,, funny, I have to find something to occupy my time at work, but a 40lb carries roughly 2 to 2.5 cf of dirt, depending on it's compaction. The area you specified equals to 552 cf (184cy) Looks like you'll need btn 220 to 275 bags. That's allot of bags, you would be better off getting dirt by the load. You can use either cubic feet or cubic yards.
