Does anyone know where I can find the love story where a husband continues to send flowers after his death?

A few years ago I received a forwarded e-mail. It was about a widow who started receiving flowers after her husbands death. He paid in advance for the florist to deliver them every year until it came to the point that she no longer answered the door.

Does anyone know where I can find the love story where a husband continues to send flowers after his death?
It took forever to find but I finally found it... it's really sweet:)
Reply:interflora
Reply:That story is a true story and it was published in Woman's World magazine a few years back. She received flowers on her birthday, their anniversay and Valentine's Day. It was a great story and as it turns out, the woman died a few years after her husband. Some say of a broken heart.
Reply:creepy but sweet. Like a crush leaving notes in your locker every single day......

Is this it??? www.snopes.com/glurge/benny.asp

I think its an urban legend.

Is it gay to send a man flowers? if so, what can you send a man by delivery?

me and my boyfriend had a huge fight. i was wrong and i wanted to send him an apology but I don't know what to send him? Any advice? I want it to be delivered and I don't know what else other than flowers or balloons but Riley says it's gay.

Good Luck ~Goddess Bless~
Reply:YES VERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try sending a card or money but not flowers unless ur gay or a bi-sexual!
Reply:Great answer. If I were him, I would want you to apologize face to face. I know it's hard- but that's why it means more.

If you want to bring a gift, consider something he might like. If he likes candy or something like that, you could wrap it and bring it with you.

Just don't forget the main event: you.
Reply:Gay??? Maybe not gay, but definately not a great idea. Guys will razz the sh!t outta him and he will be even more p!ssed in the end. Try sending him a candygram or cookie basket. That might be okay. Or you could show up at his house with a six pack and a pizza and apologize your a$$ off... That would probably be the best idea...
Reply:It's not gay. Why don't you just go to his house and apologize to him then? The best thing is to tell him you're sorry face to face.

I am unsatisfied with flowers I purchased, so what are my options??

I purchased flowers (18 roses) from 1800-Flowers and they were delivered and left overnight in the snow, so they froze, did not bloom and died in 2-3 days

I complained to them and they sent new ones at no cost but instead of sending 18, they sent 12, even though they had said they would send the EXACT PRODUCT again.

After the 2nd time, I am fed up, I want my money back, what are my options?? Do I have to pay for this or do I have justice?

I am unsatisfied with flowers I purchased, so what are my options??
Yeah life is a bummer hey , give the girl the flowers and have a good laugh together about the morons who run the flower shop . Don't let this eat you up , there is lots more serious crap than this happening out there . Next time get the flowers some other place......

so..would that be WEIRD?!?!

please help me....

Would it be weird to get flowers the day b4 valentine's day?
It wouldn't be weird I don't think so!
Reply:The flowers could be a pre-valentine's day thing and then you could go out to dinner or stay in and cook or something like that for Valentine's Day. I think it wouldn't matter too much to her.
Reply:I don't think it would be weird! And she (or he) definitely won't be expecting them!!

If you just really have doubts, though.... could you try another florist?? That's pretty steep to charge that much more for holiday delivery!! YIKES! I would have to boycott them!
Reply:NO,,,,it will probably be a great unexpected surprise! Use the $40 to take her to dinner on the 14th!
Reply:Send them tues or wed , she can enjoy them longer

If somebody just delivered a big bunch of flowers for you to your house what would you think?

These are beautiful are they for me?

He just got me flowers....Now what?

I am at work, flowers were just delivered to me from my boyfriend and it's 11am. What is the proper response? Should I wait till I see him tonight...give him a big kiss and a thank you...or call him right away and express my gratitude?? He is at work also, an hour away though. If I wait till tonight, I can say thanks in more ways than one...affection is less awkward than words! So what would be bestest?

He just got me flowers....Now what?
Just wait to see him and he will probably ask you how you liked the flowers. Then just like that with no subtle movements he will ask you to lay on the bed and lift your butt in the air for him. Good luck!
Reply:If you both have a cell phone then text him. Tell him that you got the flowers and love them...and him and will repay him later!! :) That way he has somthing to look forward to AND you get to express yourself the way you want to. ;)
Reply:You should just wait....it would have been cool to call him after you recieved them but he's at work also. Wait and give him a huge smooch tonight!!

Any ideas on good yet inexpensive gifts for mothers day?

Something I can ship or have delivered (besides flowers) that is creative and something she'll like but at the same time wont break my pocket. Anyone?

If she likes chocolate, then this is sure to make her happy! Check out the Mother's Day gift ideas: http://www.mariescandies.com/
Reply:You're welcome. Oh these chocolates are SOOOOO good! Makes my mouth water! lol Report It

Reply:Spring Clean her house for her, do her ironing, something to help her out. Those are the types of things my mother has always appreciated. Or anything handmade.

I know I would love to have someone come over and help me wash walls.
Reply:Well, I am not exactly fond of my mother in law, so I don't want to spend a lot of money on her... I bought a pocket photo album (I have a daughter she is obsessed with) the photo album says "Grandma's Brag Book", I am going to put a good picture of my daughter in it, put it in a nice gift bag with some tissue paper and call it done. She will love it, and it cost me under 10 bucks!

Good luck.

Is it bad to send flowers to yourself to make your partner jealous? we work together and i just ordered an?

arrangement to be delivered to our office, with a note from a "Secret Admirer" LOL

Is it bad to send flowers to yourself to make your partner jealous? we work together and i just ordered an?
ROMANCE ALLOWS FOR A LOT OF THINGS.

It seems innocent enough in the game of love. He might feel flattered if/when he finds out the truth (I think I would)." But it's not clear what you mean by "partner"--business or personal or both?

However, romance allows for a lot of things, and what you've done hurts no one that I can see and unquestionably helps the florist industry.

Since the flowers have already been sent, focus now on how you're going to handle it from here. What will you say if he asks about them? Put yourself in his place, try to think like he does. If he's strictly a business partner to date, how might this affect your business relationship?

But by all means, ENJOY your beautiful flowers when you get them, and ENJOY your secret admirer note! There's no law that says the secret admirer can't be you.
Reply:its childish

and could do more harm than good

what if he got something delivered that said that?

i do not think you would appreciate it one bit

and even if you confessed it was you i doubt he would believe you

play with fire-you will get burned
Reply:This is pretty immature. You're basically lying - not to make yourself feel better, but to manipulate someone else.

This isn't a very healthy relationship if you have to resort to tricks like this.

Just tell your partner straight out that you sent them to yourself because you DESERVE flowers, and no one else is providing what you need.
Reply:Bad? No.

Immature? Yes.

It could cause more problems in the long run. Like, what if he doesn't even get jelous?
Reply:Its a little juvenile. Even more so if you guys are in a relationship. But if it works..... lol
Reply:ahaha, not a bad idea, its kind of funny actually. hey whatever works in your favor! i might use that trick in the future lol.

I would like to enquire about the flower supplier where they do deliver the fresh flower daily?

If you're talking about flowers that could be obtained locally, most florist got theirs from Genting and deliver the freshly cut flowers to florists in malaysia that ordered them. If you are talking about flowers that has to be imported, florists would have a network with their counterparts who would then deliver them by plane.

An employee feeling a little too much at home?

This young woman started working for us 4 days ago and already she has orders from Amazon delivered here, she has personal calls coming in...and yesterday she had flowers delivered to her here.

Lets say you're management, how would you handle that one?

An employee feeling a little too much at home?
The best time to address this is NOW. Flowers are OK -- friends sent them to help her celebrate the new job. Don't worry abou those.

However, do address the Amazon delivery and personal calls. Tell her it's not appropriate unless they are emergency calls. If you don't stop her now, it will simply get worse. You can explain that it's just how you do business and how you prefer employees handle situations. You can be nice, thank her for understanding that your rules may differ from other employers, but that it works best at your location.

If she doesn't understand, she was likely a bad hire.
Reply:My first reaction:

In starting a conversation I would refer her to the firms’ policy and procedure handbook that is given to each new employee. I would remind her that in the culture of a law firm that these are not acceptable behaviors and perhaps distracting not only to her but to those around her. A professional demeanor is necessary for the smooth functioning of a department that provides professional services. These types of activities can have a cascading effect on other staff members, so nipping it early on may be in the best interest of the entire department.

My second reaction:

Each firm has a different culture, meaning what may be acceptable behavior in one may not be in others, so this may depend on the culture. If her job performance is above and beyond her job description, her mannerism is above expectations and she is getting along with the rest of the employees in an exemplary manner, then she may be a really good employee. If this is so, then a friendly chat on the firm policy and procedure over some tea may set the stage right for this new employee.

My third reaction:

This will be a combination of my first and second reaction. I will advise her of the firm policies and provide some positive feedback on her performance. However, not knowing the culture of the firm and since she is only four days on the job then I may have to go with my first reaction. As you can see this relates to firm culture, employee performance and the policies and procedures of the firm.

The best of luck to you.
Reply:I have found that employees who make themselves at home in the first couple of weeks, usually aren't going to last long. I think you should be assertive, but not act like you own the place. When you're over confident, you tend to not get along with management.

I don't know how the mangagement would handle things, but from my experience if they act this way the first week, they will be trying to take over and run everything within the next few. Never a good sign if you ask me.
Reply:If she has not violated anything under your company's policy, then just let her enjoy life.
Reply:I'd fire her to send a message to my other employees about acceptable behavior.

I'd rather get rid of her after four days than waste $$$ on training someone who might be a considerable problem.
Reply:I would simply tell her that personal calls have to be kept at a minimum and that they are monitored (even if they aren't). Tell her that personal packages being delivered is a disruption and to please keep them to a bare minimum.
Reply:In addition to all the good advice, you might want to mention to her the fact that some people are severely allergic to scent and flowers and she put people's health at risk with the flower delivery.

One company I worked for banned flowers, perfume, hair gel and that darn "Axe" body spray because allergic reactions.
Reply:I'd ask myself how she's performing her job. If she's keeping up with everything she needs to do, seems to be fitting in, learning quickly, and isn't causing any trouble ... I'd cut her some slack.

If employees who have been there for a while wouldn't be allowed to do things like take personal calls while on the job, then I wouldn't let her either -- otherwise, as long as she's not doing a bad job, what's the harm?

Deliver to my love one to philippines?

Hi..does anyone know a site where I can buy a teddy bear or a flower from UK and deliver it to philippines?..please help..because its my GF's birthday on June..thnx!!

Deliver to my love one to philippines?
I have to agree, send cash unless she's already filthy rich by Philippines standards. Girls do appreciate flowers and gifts - believe me. A lot of girls have romantic dreams of a guy doing all sorts of nice things for them - and if you're the guy to do it, she will remember you forever. So, if you're already supporting her financially - or she's rich, go ahead and send a nice gift.

I have had mixed experiences using online gift shops. Sometimes the items they advertise are not exactly what get delivered. Sometimes the things also arrive in a nice box - and other times in a dingy beat up box.

If you want to make the ultimate sacrifice (hey, it's love!!) I suggest you make a package in the UK yourself. Put different goodies in there. Teddy bear is nice, but don't forget to put in lots of shareables, like chocolate. Filipinas in most places share with their friends and they LOVE to show off that they have a boyfriend that cares enough about them to send them nice things on their birthday. By sending shareables, you enable her to give to her friends and make everyone happy - instead of simply showing off.

It's just advice though, your girl may be different from the regular Pinay. All I know is that all the girls I've met here would appreciate a little something for themselves, lots of shareables, and of course money. Money being the number one reason most girls find "foreigners." Money will let them help their family and/or buy nice things to illustrate they have a good boyfriend.

Anyway, if you follow my advice and send a package from the UK, make sure you wrap it up nice and then put it inside ANOTHER package. Line that one with bubblewrap or foamies - not newspaper. Then take that to your nearest FedEx, UPS or DHL and pay the price of love :)

Sending through regular mail is like playing the lottery that things get there at all.
Reply:Send her cash Justin. She probably needs that more than a teddy bear and she will appreciate that just as much. Its not tacky, its thoughtful because unless she is the daughter of a congressman, she needs the money very much. Good luck in your relationship. Go there.
Reply:offers flowers, chocolates and bears... and others

Cheap flowers in Brazil?

I would like to send flowers to a girl on Valentines day, but I am a poor student. Does anyone know of an affordable flower delivery service that could deliver to Recife?

Thank you!

Cheap flowers in Brazil?
Where are you from?

If you are not Brazilian, I guess you would find a nice flower deliver, but they probably won't take you credit card here. I do not know the reason, but most places here 'don't take credit card issued abroad.

Is giving flowers to a girl who likes you on her last day the right thing to do?

She was a student at the language school I work in. I told her my feelings, but she did not want a relationship with me, though sometimes she seemed attracted, others she ignored me, but got worried if I ignored her too. As she was going back to her country today I ordered flowers to be delivered to her at the school (without letting anyone know I was behind it). She was delighted at this anonymous present and showed them to everyone. When she read my card where I said she was fascinating and wishing I had known her better, but asking for nothing, she seemed a bit amused, a bit annoyed. She did not thank me, but instead gave me a present too, a book. Later she tried to ignore me, but smiled when I asked her to write me something in the book. She left with the flowers in her hand, but said goodbye to me rather formally. I don't expect to find her on my doorstep tonight, but I wonder just what effect my gift had. How would one of you girls have reacted? What's this indifference of hers?

Is giving flowers to a girl who likes you on her last day the right thing to do?
From personal experience, I understand y she didn't pay 2 much attention 2 u, b cause she was leaving and she didn't want 2 get 2 close 2 anyone. It's the hard feelings thing, she didn't want 2 go through with it. But on the other hand, since she took the flowers I really think she really appreciate the flowers and will always remember u. Who knows if she end up comming back she'll probably look 4 u!
Reply:I think her reaction is going to be different depending on what country she is from. If she is latina, she will be confused. if she is slavic, she will marry you. If she is asian she will remember you forever.
Reply:Chances are that she will only remember you fondly.
Reply:i think it sounds like you did the right thing. it seems like she loved it and the formal goodbye was so she wouldn't miss you so much. actually, i bet she is thinking of you this very moment. that was a great thing to do! she obviously has a intrest in you when she gave you the book. maybe she just isn't ready for a relationship. keep her in mind though and if you have her number, call her after a while and invite her on a date. if she says no, then its just her turn to ask you if she has an intrest in you. good luck!
Reply:did she write you anything in the book or just a smile? what kind of book was it?
Reply:u did right but i think she appreciated it thats why she gave u a present too.
Reply:Sounds like a proffessor-student relationship. Everyone is hesitant about relationships like that. If it were me, honestly? I'd be shocked and worried. Complimented and special, of course, but besides that, I wouldn't know what to think. It's very romantic and very sweet. I'm sure she appreciates it.
Reply:I did it once, and we went out all summer
Reply:i don't know what to say?giving flowers is very very nice thing to do but i can see she is not sure to talk or not to?? but if you have the chance ask her again and tell her you like her but don't push her tell her you'll wait and see how she'll react if its OK with her fine if not don't waste your time and don't hurt your self wish good luck to her and bye bye

A great valentine gift for my wife, besides flowers? I need ideas. It can be delivered or I can pick up.?

I have bought gifts from edible arrangements. I was thinking about Snookie Cookies. I know some one out there will have something original and different.

A great valentine gift for my wife, besides flowers? I need ideas. It can be delivered or I can pick up.?
Go for something she would want, but doesn't want to spend the money for (hobbies, clothing, mini-vacation). Example: treat her and your daughter to a Day spa. If she doesn't like spas, volunteer to take care of the kids, while she has a girls night out.
Reply:Well, this is what I would like. A gift certificate for a manicure and pedicure or an entire spa day. You have to have something else that she can enjoy along with the gift certificate, too. So, give her a romantic card with something you know she likes such as chocolate or the Snookie's Cookies. Maybe a bottle of champagne, too. Just some thoughts.
Reply:pick her up in a limo and take her to private Hot Tubs.....and a bottle of wine....D' la Rosa, made in italy, Il Canto d'iabla...
Reply:Take her out to dinner at her favorite restaurant, and buy her a diamond ring.
Reply:You could check out the website - http://www.ExpressionPrints.com - it allows you to upload a photo of your own or use one from their gallery. Then you can add text such as a personal message or love poem on top of the image and it even allows you to apply effects to the photo. Nice site to create a really personalized photo gift for someone special in your life.
Reply:I think the best valentine gift is a love letter written in your hand writing on good paper. Then get her a voucher for a massage or something to pamper her. Or get a hotel room with a hot tub just for one night and take her there and just love her all night long, but make sure you still do the love letter. Make sure it is how you feel about her, how she smells, looks, how she turns you on, what you feel when you see her etc.
Reply:Hmmm....well something original would be a weekend getaway for the both of you. Nothing to expensive, nor does it have to be in a different state...just away from your normal surroundings. Make up a romantic coupon booklet to give to her on v-day and just have some fun. Here is a link that I found, check it out!
Reply:Stop being cheap and get her a Rolex.
Reply:Take her away from home for the night to a nice motel. Enjoy a nice dinner and relax.
Reply:If you want something flashy, get a car or jewlrey, we girls LOVE jewlrey. If its something small and thoughtful, take her out to dinner and tell her how much she means to you, dont be afraid to tell her everything

How do I send flowers to my sis-in-law in Florida when I live in the UK?
The Internet is the only way in your case. Even ifyou live down here, it is expensive. However, I would not try to send it to the hospital since here in the states women only stay about 2 days and go home. Send it to her home...less stuff to carry home from the hospital. Another suggestion would be to send a plant which will continue to grow.
Reply:check yahoo
Reply:find a local florist in her area and pay via credit card or money order or whatever they say.

Has anyone ordered bridal flowers from Costco?

They have complete sets for the entire wedding party for less than $500.00 delivered to your home. I called them, their rep said it looks just the the photos online. If you've ordered flowers from them or Sams club was it worth it? Did you save $money? Thank you

Has anyone ordered bridal flowers from Costco?
My neighbor's daughter had her flowers from Sam's Club and they looked amazing! She used white roses and blue hydrangea's. She saved a ton of money and they really did look amazing.

The only thing was they were not premade arrangements she and her mother had to make them.
Reply:My sister did she said they were such a good deal compared to the local florist and they looked amazing at the wedding...

and they good quality too

i think they had some artifical ones too but im not sure
Reply:We are getting ours from Costco, my fiance works there and we have guaranteed that they look perfect! There flowers are great quality, go for it!!
Reply:ooh i did!!! my sister bought my wedding flowers from costco and then made my bouquets for me! so it cost me around $300 for the flowers...and everyone said how HUGE my boquet was...my bridesmaid boquets were bigger then most normal brides are!!

you can order the flowers you want ahead of time and then they arrive fresh for you..

*my sister used to be a flowrist so she figured out the cost of what it would have been if i bought the flowers from a florist and it would have been over $2000 in flowers!! so ya go with costco- i honestly recomment it!!!

Blooming britain online flowers how can they justify advertising? they do nothing that they promise!?

ordered a bouqet for a new baby, the comapny delivered it to milton keynes and not to chester two days late in appalling condition, they will not return my calls or e-mails. I returned the flowers to them. How can such companies exist when their standards are so low?

Blooming britain online flowers how can they justify advertising? they do nothing that they promise!?
Contact trading standards in your area. They will sort this out for you.

I have used several online such as jersey flowers and never had a problem. However, the best way I have found is contact talking pages and ask for a florist in the area you want to send the flowers to.

You then make your own choice of florist and phone your choice. This I method I have found to be more personal and I derive far more pleasure doing it this way. You can actually tell the florist what you want and it can work out to far cheaper than having a set bouquet..

I hope you have this matter resolved to your satisfaction and that the baby is not a year old before it is.

How long do calla lillies last?

I'm going to make my own bouquet because I'm having my wedding in Cancun. There's a 2 day waiting period to have your ceremony in Cancun once you arrive. How far before I leave should I have the flowers delivered?

How long do calla lillies last?
If you keep the flowers in the cold and wet place, it should last four days !!!
Reply:someone told me 4 days
Reply:I worked in the gardening section at Lowes and they were pretty much dead by june
Reply:24 hrs. Good luck
Reply:They can last for 24 hours. But, I would never use calla lillies. Calla Lillies mean Death. They are used for funerals no weddings. You should look up the meanings of flowers before using them.
Reply:When we planned our wedding, we talked to several florists about calla lillies. That is what we carried as well! We were told that they will keep well for about 24 hours refrigerated and in water.

If you're concerned about the life span of the cut callas, have you considered using silks? I ended up deciding to carry white faux callas, and no one knew that they were fake - I received a bunch of compliments on them, actually. If you use a quality silk, they may cost just as much as the real flower per stem (or less when they're out of season), but you won't have to worry about them wilting before your wedding.

Just a thought. Either way, I hope your day is perfect! Good luck!
Reply:one day.
Reply:I am not sure exactly how long the flowers will last, but to avoid the possibility of them dying you may want to choose fake or silk flowers. They are going to stay beautiful long after the honeymoon is over.

Good Luck!
Reply:Like I said before- check with a florist. If you getting married in Cancun they normally offer discounted flowers. I would say 24 hours but then you have to make sure they ship there, and if they get there in time and also make sure the hotel has a flower freezer you can put it in. My best friend went through this and had to get married with Dead flowers because she insisted on making her own. It was too hot and all the flowers open up and dead within 2 hours.
Reply:be careful with calla lillies cause my friend used them for her wedding and some broke before the ceremony was over
Reply:I don't really know how long they last, but I do know that if you place them in 7up instead of water, any flower will last for weeks.... no kidding! Even tulips which rarely last more than 3 days will last for about 2 weeks.... Something about the sugar...

Reply:Call local flourist shops and see if they have a FTD service or if they offer local or long distant deliveries.

Will I get notified if the flowers I sent were delivered?

It depends on the company. I do all my flower deliveries online, so I do receive confirmation. Proflowers.com is especially good about this.

Or do you mean from the recipient? They should send you a thank-you card at least.

Will I get notified if the flowers I sent were delivered?
not from most places... but you can request to be notified or give them a call and ask.

How deep should the soil be for a flowerbed?

I'm planning to order topsoil delivered for my perennial flower seedlings for my garden. These flowers will be 10" to 48" tall.

How deep should the soil be for the roots?

How deep should the soil be for a flowerbed?
If you are direct seeding most of perennials just take a light layer of dirt over them to sprout. There is no set depth unless you are planting annuals.

If you are buying perennials from a nursery, you plant them as deep as their root ball.

Does F.T.D.realy mean forgot to deliver?

Does F.T.D.realy mean forgot to deliver?
I know my son ordered flowers from FTD.com for his girl friend for Valentine's day.........they were delivered two days late. The flowers were frozen. He has been calling for two days now and it says the wait time is 60 minutes. Seems like many people are having issues with them.

What can I buy my mum for mothers day? She lives so far away, it wont get there in time if I post it today.?
how about a beauty parlor, nail salon, a spa - any sort of places like that near her. do a search on line if you are not sure, than call one of them, get a gift certificate from them and have it sent to your mom. all moms love to be pampered. hope this helps.
Reply:Flowers will get there on time. Not to mention many flower shops sell items like spa baskets, wine baskets and other gifts.

Any comments about the parking warden who was beaten up in Wandsworth yesterday?

FOR TRYING TO TICKET A FUNERAL CAR WHICH WAS DELIVERING FLOWERS TO THE WAKE OF A SOLDIER KILLED 12 DAYS AGO IN IRAQ. Should he think himself lucky ONLY to have been hospitalised !

Note: I tried to put this under "Cars %26amp; Transportation" but apparently Mr Yahoo knows better!

Any comments about the parking warden who was beaten up in Wandsworth yesterday?
How odd - I've been there but I didn't see a car park attached to the pub - just a couple of tables in the very small front drive - and car park entrance or not, even a ha'porth of common would have told that bloke that it was just a delivery of flowers and he could have looked the other way for a minute or two. Never mind, perhaps it'll happen at HIS funeral one day.
Reply:I doubt if anyone has any sympathy for this chap!.. Parking wardens are supposed to use discretion,,obviously this one was a jobs worth type so got what was coming to him..

Unfortunately two wrongs don't make a right - Those involved could have appealed against the ticket and would most likely have got away with it! by beating him up! they will face prosecution and end up paying a bigger fine than the one which would have been imposed in the first place..

Life isn't fair is it?
Reply:I think it really depends on whether the parking warden knew that the cars were with a funeral.

If he did, then I would have thought that he would turn a blind eye and carry on.

If he didn`t, but saw the hearse, perhaps he should have made some enquiries.

In any case, beating him up was extreme and should not have happened, although I can understand that feelings were high and the beating should not have happened.
Reply:Ok the Traffic was over the top and should have used hes Discretion over this And it was Stated that the poor Soldier who Lost hes life ,Fighting for hes Country Bless him ,TheTraffic Warden took one Beating in the Heat of the Moment But There it Should have stopped The Soldier who Was Sadly Killed it was stated wouldnt have liked what Happened ,,,,,,,
Reply:Hi she should have realised what was happening and asked the driver to move but violence is wrong!
Reply:He is just doing an unpleasant job.
Reply:Though he was insensitive, it is never acceptable to use violence, there are consequences on more than one level. Take the ticket and take the matter up with the issuing authority, don't allow the warden the satisfaction of feeling he has one over on you. The focus should be on the deceased and the relatives, not on him.
Reply:He was parked across the entrance to the f**ken car park. That meant nobody else could get in or out. I dont like parking wardens myself but this guy had parked somewhere he shouldnt have. However, I think he should have just asked the driver to move the car instead of putting the ticket on
Reply:wrong place wrong time.
Reply:There is no need to attack anyone for just doing there job. Even one as disagreeable as a Traffic Warden. Hope the people who attacked him get life and serve life.
Reply:I believe his ambulance was clamped and was delayed getting to A + E, that's why he's still recovering.

Are you supposed to tip a flower delivery guy? How much?

If you get flowers delivered to you for Valentine's Day, are you supposed to tip the delivery guy?

Are you supposed to tip a flower delivery guy? How much?
You can if you want to. Sure he or she will appreciate it since they mostly make close to minimum wages. But you don't have to since the cost of delivery is figured in on the bill.
Reply:Anyone that does a service for you.you should give them a little something, out of thankfulness and appreciation.
Reply:I have never tipped one just like I don't tip the UPS, FEDEX or DLH drivers.
Reply:nothing
Reply:I've never done that......never even occured to me.........
Reply:Nothing. It's your present. Whoever ordered it already paid shipping/handling charges (and they are not cheap).
Reply:No. You are the recipient of a gift. If any tip is to be given, it should be given by whomever sent the flowers.
Reply:Give him a buck! what's it gonna do? Give you some class!!
Reply:You do not need to tip the flower delivery guy.

.

.
Reply:Yes, it's considered good manners, just like tipping the pizza guy. I usually give them a couple of bucks, or maybe $5 if I have it and especially if the weather is bad.

Lucky you to get flowers delivered today!
Reply:No I have never tipped.
Reply:I don't... I didn't ask him to come.
Reply:No...you are recieving a gift! No tip necessary!
Reply:about 15 percent
Reply:$5 is fine. they live on tips. their pay is almost zero and they pay their own gasoline.
Reply:No, if you aren't the one who paid for the flowers, you have no obligation to tip. I'm sure the delivery guy wouldn't mind if you did, but he's probably not expecting it.
Reply:No Way! NEVER! This is a gift to you! YOu never tip anyone for a gift!
Reply:no tip is necessary. It's a gift being delivered to you. You don't tip the UPS guy either, right?
Reply:Pull one of the flowers from the bouquet and give it to him.
Reply:You can, but it's not necessary. You only tip those who perform a manual labor for you like a waitress, valet parking, etc...

The delivery guy's salary is not supplemented by tips. But hey.. it's Valentine's day! The guy may want to get his girlfriend a nice gift and it would come in handy!
Reply:It depends on where you are. In certain countries you are supposed to tip them - in others this is considered rude and you could e put in jail. Ask your mom.
Reply:give him a kiss
Reply:If you get flowers you didn't order, then the flower dude certainly isn't anticipating a tip. I bet they jack the prices up to inlcude tip.
Reply:no you drag him in and do him
Reply:Give him a b l o w job! That will stay in his memory forever.
Reply:I think you should tip the person below 5 dollars or 1 dollar

Something to deliver at work for Valentines?

My boyfriend and I have been together 2yrs and in addition to me making him dinner and a few small presants, I wanted to send him something at work on Valentines Day, just to let him know how speicial he is to me and to make him feel special throughout the day. He is 24. Do men get embarresed by getting some flowers, or balloons or somehting delivered on Valentines Day? Or does anyone have any other suggestions of what they would like?

Something to deliver at work for Valentines?
Why not have a meal for lunch delivered to him at work. I'd think places would do little things for Valentines Day or pick it up and deliver it to him yourself and have lunch with him. Guys are really not into getting flowers.
Reply:Embarassing your man is not really the issue, its office politics and office policy. Call his secretary or the receptionist and ask her if its acceptable or has been done before. If she is helpful, I'd send along a thank you card or a tiny box of candy for her too---its always good to have the ppl at the front desk on your side. If she says its a no go, then send it to his house. As for suggestions, I once bought a whole bunch of those trial size items from the pharmacy and a box of valentines...wrapped them and left them with all the people who my husband sees during the day (his routine is predictable and he works a sales route that rarely changes). People had great fun giving him the gifts which included: toothpaste, shampoo, soap, new tie, new shirt, belt, tie clip, shave cream, a disposable razor, comb, two hershey's kisses, and an invite to dinner.....was soooo much fun for me....and the people who helped got into it too.....his secretary took like five of them and put them in his office, his mailbox, his computer case......was great fun.... enjoy!
Reply:it is ok to send man flowers it 2007 not the 80s or 90s
Reply:There are so many things you can get delivered now that have a manly theme to them. Baskets full of stuff for golfing and football. I would send something along those lines rather than balloons and flowers. Call your local florist I am sure they can tell you what they have especially for men this year.
Reply:be careful....some men take offense to flowers being sent to the office...u will need to know how he feels about this first and if u have been going out for 2 years already....u probably know which type of person he is...

enjoy life!
Reply:Some do get embarrassed and some don't. How outgoing is your boyfriend? The only other suggestion would be have cookies delivered to him. Go to Mrs. Fields and see if they'll do it, or go on line. You only have today to decide.
Reply:dont do it at work, a bit too cheesy and emabarrising for my linking, what about decorating his car in the mornign before work that is cute, writing something on the window etc, leaving something in his car etc. a cute mix CD in the stero . . .
Reply:Yeah they do get embarrased but send the flowers and balloons to him at his house.:)

Is 20% discount from FTD (Forgot To Deliver) enough for missing my flower delivery to my mom for Mother's day?

My mom lost her daughter almost a year ago, leaving behind a 1year old. She just gave her granddaughter to the father (divorce) three weeks before Mother's day.

This mother's day she was going to be alone, so I splurged and spent $80 on flowers from FTD (Forgot To Deliver). Normally I use 1800FLOWERS, but I just used whatever ad I came upon first, which unfortunately was FTD.

So I called them, wondering how they missed Mother's day completely, and they offer me 20% off, saying they got the order but somehow missed it, and delivered on Thursday.

Is 20% off enough, I figure 1/2 off at least. Do they make enough mistakes to only offer 20% to stay profitable? Or is this just a greedy company with no heart?

Is 20% discount from FTD (Forgot To Deliver) enough for missing my flower delivery to my mom for Mother's day?
They should send them for free. Call them again and threaten to never use them unless they make you satisfied. Enough arguing and you could get them for free, and maybe have them throw in your next order for half off or something.
Reply:No. A reputable firm would send the flowers absolutely free. At 20 % they are still making a profit for failure. What kind of crap is that?
Reply:No way that 20% is reasonable. All florists know Mother's Day is the biggest day of the year for flowers (and cards). A screw-up, esp since they acknowledged they somehow missed it, deserves a minimum of half off the order, and since it was Mother's Day, it should be free. Esp if you explained the situation to them.

Call again, and if you don't get satisfaction, ask if you can speak to a supervisor.

Valentine's Day is coming up!! I wanted to arrange for some flowers to be delivered to a special someone and

have it arrive in her classroom. This is her last year before graduation and I wanted it to be a memorable one. So I contacted some of her friends to find out which class she has on that day. I specifically requested for the friends NOT to say anything to her out of resepect. Even if they do not want to help, I asked them to keep their mouth shut. I really want it to be a suprise.

Well..the friends could not keep their mouth shut and revealed my plans to her!!

Moments ago, she emails me to inform me that my actions are affecting her friends and that she doesn't want any flowers because it is a waste of space.

Unfortunately, the flowers has already been paid for and will arrive on Valentines Day regardless.

What should I do? Why do I feel bad? Did I do something wrong? Am I at fault here??

Please help!

Valentine's Day is coming up!! I wanted to arrange for some flowers to be delivered to a special someone and
I would pull a "slick one" on her. I would call the florist and arrange for the flowers to be delivered to her home instead of at school. She may not be someone who likes to receive gifts in front of other people. So, it may not be that she doesn't want the flowers...it may just be that she doesn't want to get them at school.

If you send them to her at home she will still get to enjoy them and know that you care about her but it just won't be a big production at school with the possibility of her friends at school teasing her.

:) Best Wishes,

Ms. Orchid
Reply:You did nothing wrong, you had really good intention and thats what matter if she not appreciative then thats not your fault and now u know for the next 1 u cant count on her friends.

i would tell ftd to NOT deliver any flowers because there was a reason why you wanted it to be on that day and missing the day is no use now. if they give you a hard time, tell them the story you told us here about your mom. cancel the order and make sure they dont charge you for anything because it was their mistake. i wouldn't even try to fight with them to get a discount. why talk to managers and higher ups? you'll only be helping them if you complain in this situation. they should be offering it for free before they lose your business if you ask me.

call the other dependable flower delivery service and have them deliver instead. then never use FTD again.
Reply:That is RIDICULOUS...you paid for flowers to be delivered on Mother's Day and they weren't-they should be free!!!!!!!! Please call the corporate headquarters to complain and demand the flowers be sent immediately and your money refunded to you. Tell them they made you look insensitive for not doing something for your mom on this special day. 20% off does not justify the fact they made a mistake-you are entitled to the flowers for free for them not sending them on the correct day. If they refuse to refund your money boycott the company and tell all your friends and family to as well.
Reply:20% is not enough! First of all, it was for Mother's Day....%26amp; Mother's Day has pasted. I personally think that sometimes these bigger companies take advantage of people. A few years ago I sent flowers %26amp; a balloon to someone for their birthday (from a small town local florist ) and the wrong item was sent. I called the florist %26amp; they apologized over %26amp; over %26amp; ended up not billing me for the order. I didn't expect that!
Reply:That's terrible! They should deliver the flowers at no charge!!! They are delivering 4 days late yet they got the order on time. If they told you it would be delivered on time then it was their mistake and should be free: especially something as special as Mother's Day!! You should complain to their head office.
Reply:I would keep asking for a larger discount.

The 20% would be ok if the flowers were delivered Monday...

But 4 days later? I would be sooo ticked! I would want at least 50% off...

Keep asking for a manager, and if you still arent satisfied, ask for the corporate office number.

Best of luck
Reply:um no!!!! thats outrageous, i would demand they be sent free due to their error or i would cancel and tell them their forgetfullness goes great with their companies name and reputation. u would like a refund they can FORGET ABOUT UR BUSINESS OR ANY REFERRALS%26gt; their error they should have made good to keep a satisfied customers.
Reply:LARGER DISCOUNT!!!!! yes the least 1/2 off. IT WAS MOTHERS DAY!
Reply:i would say they should be free there mistake

The better hotels can even help you arrange it by recommending an excellent local florist. Just ask the hotel for their concierge. This way you can be sure that you will be getting the best quality. Not that there is anything wrong with FTD and the likes, but you may not be able to select the best florist in the area of the many that may be available.

Help For Floral Delivery Company Please?

I would like some help on how to deliver flowers on bikes. We have a £100 budget to work with (we already have the bikes.). Could you please give suggestions on whether we should use panniers or bags to carry the flowers. Also, could you give us general suggestions on how we could expand and advice for people who have experience in the field.

Help For Floral Delivery Company Please?
firstly start of using a basket of reasonable sixe you can also buy trailers for the back that can have a open area or closed area once you start getting a steady income rent a van you can get really good deals and so on just build up gradually to what you can afford
Reply:Before choosing the method of carriage, consider your target market, their location and the types of flowers they will order. It maybe good to limit their choices. Then think about the most suitable container that can be easily carried, protects the flowers and keeps them fresh. You do not want them to wilt on a hot day. A possibility is a specially constructed tube, may be more expensive than your budget, however this could present opportunities for display, marketing, passing cost through to the client. In regards to expansion think about who you could talk to from your local business groups and consider franchising in the future.
Reply:Will you be able to buy a pannier.Have you tried making a big basket or get a large cardboard box reinforce it %26amp; attach to bike.Flowers are big buisness I prefer flowers in a basket has they need no mucking on with. You will have to try %26amp; find out what local florists are charging %26amp; under cut them. You are going into cut throat buisness %26amp; i wish you good luck %26amp; fortune.

Are you supposed to tip the flower delivery guy? How much?

If you get flowers delivered to you on Valentine's Day are you supposed to tip the flower delivery guy?

Are you supposed to tip the flower delivery guy? How much?
yes i would say about two to three dollars a delievery also many pepole such as this do not get a large hourly salary yet more so they get mostly tips most delivery types in this situation are retired individulals looking to supplement there income so good luck on this issue
Reply:I have never tipped a floral delivery person, although I think it would be appropriate to do so. Just a small tip, like you might give the pizza delivery guy would work. Now I feel bad, never tipping. It's not like I get flowers delivered often, though. Sometimes they are delivered to my workplace, and I am not there to recieve them, the receptionist does. She doesn't tip on my behalf, I'm pretty sure!
Reply:I usually do, but I know some people don't like to. I usually give 2 or 3 dollars
Reply:Remember tipng is always optional, Although, I would give a couple of dollars.
Reply:No, he gets paid for delivering them.
Reply:Hell no! You don't tip someone for bringing you flowers!

You get a gift and you're supposed to tip the deliverer? I don't think so.
Reply:You should....amount depends on the flowers......lol.
Reply:No way!!
Reply:I don't think so. I just make sure to thank them. And wish them a happy holiday, if the occasion calls for it.

What can I give my husband for valentines day that can be delivered, and it is not flowers?

Almost anything yu can think of , a delivery service will do that .

What can I give my husband for valentines day that can be delivered, and it is not flowers?
I used to own a bridal shop, around Valentines Day I was asked this same question more times than you would believe, so I started asking men that I knew or that came into the shop to buy things for their wives what they would want. I got many answers but believe it or not most men liked getting balloon bouquets or many of them would have liked getting something that they really wanted delivered to them, anything from golf clubs to their favorite candy. Either way it gave them bragging rights to all their friends and coworkers as to how much their wife loved them.

Is flowers over board?
WHOSE heart is not gladdened at the sight of a flower? A bouquet of roses can immediately brighten up a day, cheer a gloomy face, lift a depressed heart, even cause friendship to sprout and love to flourish. To many men and women flowers are more than creations of decorative beauty. They are delicate living things that excite the imagination. They inspire faith in God and cause thanksgiving and praise to flow to him. The fragile shapes of flowers and infinite colors of perfection reveal a God sensitive to human needs and emotions.

“Think of it,” said a housewife, “we may touch a flower and it may die, still that same flower is sturdy enough to survive a rainstorm unharmed! It’s simply wonderful.” In an interview she spoke of flowers as meaning many things: warm affection, understanding, appreciation and, perhaps most of all, tender love. She liked flowers.
Reply:I think she's looking for a lot of attention and she probably hasn't made up her mind about which one of you she likes better. Maybe you should take things slowly, call her a bit more, ask her out to dinner and show her that not everything about you is physical. Girls do actually like that, maybe you could deliver one rose... then two roses... then three roses all anonymously. Have them all delivered at the same time each day or week.. and By the time she figures out the exact time, let her catch you putting the rose on her doorstep. A friend of mine had that done to her, she ended up dating him for a long time. Very sweet.

Just dont make it look like it's a random urge.
Reply:tug, tug, tug......do you feel that? That's her pulling your string! Quit letting her play you.
Reply:Sounds like she doesn't know what she wants!!! Send her flowers call and ask her to movies or what ever. See if a relationship developes on a regular basis.
Reply:well flowers are great if she is into you!! but sounds like she really does not like you!! sorry to say but she sounds lke she is confussed about something.
Reply:dont just deliver the flowers to her house,

give it to her personaly.

my advice- give her 11 real roses, 1 fake one.

tell her you'll love her till the last one dies.

cheesey but she'll love it.
Reply:If you honestly give her space like you said, there is nothing wrong with flowers

flowers are never bad!

Especially if you've been naked with this woman and can't send her flowers..?

On Valentine's Day I decided to get the girl I have had a crush on for a few months now flowers (cont'd below)

On Valentine's day, I got a call from my friend's brother who told me he had seen the flowers I bought her, and that I should deliver the flowers at her work so I could surprise her after work . I surprised her with the flowers after work and she said "She wasn't even celebrating Valentine's day" and gave me a hug. She invited me to come over to her apartment later and hang out. When I got there her friend was over, but she left soon after I arrived. We talked for a little while, mostly about her job and school, and the medication she has been on. Her ex abused her by kicking her in the kidneys and she broke up with him last July. I had forgotten the note I had written to go with the flowers I got her. It basically said that i really like her and I instantly knew she was special. She said thanks for the valentine again, and that my note was really sweet. She invited me to hang out at her place with her and her friend this weekend. How do I know if she likes me or wants to be friends?

On Valentine's Day I decided to get the girl I have had a crush on for a few months now flowers (cont'd below)
Sounds like she had a rough go of it with her ex. Go, and just hang out with her and follow her lead. As a woman, if I had gotten a note like that I would definately get the impression that you were interested. The fact that she mentioned the note, I think indicates that she may also be interested. If she weren't interested she wouldn't have invited you over again. Go and have a good time. I think the feelings here are mutual
Reply:The only way you will find out is by going...She invited you over, she sounds interested now give this a chance and go...
Reply:well jsut ask her or just get one of your friends ( close ) that knows her to and get him/her to ask her and then he/she will tell you!

So I got my teacher flowers....?

Hi, me and my friend decided to have flowers delivered to my school for my band director, and we told the other 8th graders and we did it. She really loved them...she almost cried...I think she did once we went to lunch because everyone wrote a little note-type thing to her, and we gave her a card. The flowers were GORGEOUS too. So...should I send her an email with more things I will miss about her when we go to highschool (Shes like our mom!) and say how I hope she liked the flowers, and we took a lot of time trying to pick the right ones, etc? thanks.

So I got my teacher flowers....?
Just let her know how much she's meant to you and that you'll miss her. Doing this is person would be more effective.
Reply:yes send her an email

be careful not to over-do an explanation of how long it took you to find the flowers for her...just keep that part short and simple like "i really hope you liked the flowers; we were careful to try and pick something you liked"

then tell her you'll miss her and how much you liked having her and maybe that you hope to run into her again sometime

hope this helps :)
Reply:if u r gonna miss so much, do what you think will make her happy. and oh yeah, high five for being a band geek, math is more for me, but at least u will admitt it. all my band geek friends gave their teachers flowers and things like that.
Reply:um , yeah, if ur really close., but dont overdo it cuz then itll be like ur fishing for complement, lol

Do it yourself wedding flowers!?

Hi All,

I am getting married in June of '08. I pretty much do not like my florist and have tried to work with him several times. Soooo, I've decided to order the flowers myself and do everything myself besides the centerpieces. I have PLENTY of help lined up. My bouquet with have two different color roses in it and the bridesmaids will as well just smaller (8 roses total for bm's). The flowers outside will be 4 vases with about 20-30 roses and greenery in them and three roses on the end chair in each row with a pink bow. I am just curious if anyone has done this before? ANY advice would be awesome. If so do you have any helpful hints? Also, how early before the wedding were your flowers delivered? Any advice on storing them etc. ?? Thanks for your help :)

P.S. I have already purchased the flowers through a wholesaler so there is no turning back! They are all roses by the way so atleast I don't have alot of different flowers to work with.

Do it yourself wedding flowers!?
I did my own flowers and boutonnieres for my wedding in September. We ordered through a wholesaler (www.theflowerexchange.com) and they turned out better than I could have ever imagined. It was just my mom and I who did them. This link (http://www.theknot.com/co_profileview.ht... really helped with tips.

Good luck! I'm sure they'll turn out beautifully.
Reply:Store them in a refrigerator. Flowers need to be cold to keep fresh once cut. If you treat them gingerly they should be fine. Florist wire the heads to the stems so that if it breaks the head stays with the stem and doesn't fall off. You have taken on quite a bit using fresh flowers. I hope your help comes through. The wholesaler should be able to tell you the very latest you can have them shipped so they will be fresh and you won't have to store them long.

My husband and I are renewing our vows in our Church (we had a civil ceremony before). I am doing silks and have them all ready made, centerpieces etc. But that is the beauty of silk you can make them well in advance and storage isn't a problem. They are less expensive as well. Below is my website.
Reply:First, realize that what your taking on is going to be challenging, however, it is not impossible. If you have decided to take this on, you must have a knack for doing crafts and things, I know you can do it. It is not that difficult.

Basically, what I would DEFINITELY DO...is go to a florist and purchase enough of these flowers to do two bouquets well ahead of the date of your wedding... and do a couple of 'practice' bouquets.

This will do two things. First, it will give you some idea of the time and level of difficulty your going to face when you start to assemble the bouquets so you can multiply that by the amount of bouquets you have planned for the day of the wedding. Second, it will allow you to modify them, either to make them more elaborate or more simplified to suite your tastes. The information that the prep will give you will prove to be invaluable when you start counting down to the last days before your wedding.

Now, as far as the flower delivery time goes, the closer you can make it to the day of the wedding the better. With roses, you can keep them refrigerated and get them in bud form about three days before the wedding, which should allow plenty of time for assembly.

Make sure you have plenty of floral tape, vases for the bouquets, and all the stuff to actually 'assemble' them. Don't forget the flowers for the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom to wear. Don't forget the booteniers for the guys as well. These things are expected. Also, some opt for flowers to put at the end of the isle on the church pews, (if you are in fact getting married in a church).

To assemble your flowers into a bouquet, you can find supplies at Wal-Mart, at a craft store, or at a florist. I suggest that you go onto Craigslist.com and put out the word that you want old wedding bouquets that you can tear apart and repurpose for your bouquets. Many times you can save TONS of money by doing this. You will need to get floral tape to bind all the stems together. They do not have to be perfect, just pretty. The way you are doing this will be a HUGE money saver. AND... it will have the added benefit of your KNOWING that your florist will not be late, and that the flowers will be JUST the way you want them to be. Have fun with it. It is afterall, YOUR day.

HERE IS A WEBSITE...that depicts 8 basic types of floral arrangements. It tells you what to use to achieve the looks you desire using foam or floral tape to bind the arrangement together. If you want more websites, just go to your toolbars search engine and type in the words 'How to floral arrangements'.... tons of sites will come up. (It is how I found this one.)

Congratulations on getting married, I wish you much joy and happiness in the future.... and GOOD for YOU for taking matters into your own hands... Literally. I love that you have that 'Can Do' attitude!!!
Reply:I haven't done it yet, but I am doing it, so I can't help you much there.

All I can say is practice, practice, practice. When roses are on sale, pick them up at the grocery store and make a bouquet. It's not as easy as it looks, but it's not terribly difficult. Practice wrapping the stems with ribbon (I assume that's what you are doing)...this is not a trivial task.

Simplify your designs as much as possible. You don't want a whole bunch of stress on your rehearsal day and wedding day!!!
Reply:Hi. I think I answered your other question, but you must have changed it with this one.

YES...I have done this...but not bouquets. Bouquets will take a lot of work. Look online...there are step by step directions. Practice with some roses beforehand.

If you are having a Saturday wedding, have your flowers delivered on Thursday. It's a LOT of work. You will need to unpackage them....cut the stems...put them in buckets of water with rose food.

They will need to be in a COOL/COLD place. Our wedding was in the summer and I have central air...so it was no problem! You will get instructions that come with the flowers. You CANNOT put them in regular refrigerators. Only commercially grade refrigerators.

The flowers will not look that good at first...don't freak out! You will need to do everything the DAY before...and then they may still not look that good. Keep them in water overnight...and then the morning of the wedding...you will need to have someone wrap the stems with floral tape and then silk ribbon or whatever you are using to "hold" the bouquets!

Good luck!
Reply:enroll in a floristry course at your local TAFE

It is cheap to do and will give you a better idea of what you need to do.

And remember simple is better. not only will it look more effective but it will be easier and less stressfull. I am doing my flowers, simple gerberas tied together with a ribbon. Sounds boring but it looks really effective.

I got flowers from another guy today-?

My boyfriend %26amp; I just broke up after 2.5 yrs, and there is this guy who works out at the gym I work at, and I always talked to him casually like I do a lot of people. so, when I went to work kind of sad, he said hello %26amp; I wasnt my usual smiling self so he noticed %26amp; asked if Im ok %26amp; I said yes, sorry %26amp; told him I was having a bad week %26amp; about the break up... anyway, he had flowers delivered to the gym %26amp; it said "hope these make you smile" - Josh and I was really suprised %26amp; felt happy to have them. so, I'm moving out of the apt my bfriend %26amp; I shared %26amp; is it rude or heartless to bring the flowers home since he still comes home to the same place %26amp; will see them?

Honey if you've broken up, there's no point in hiding this from him. It'll show him that you're OK and still strong, and moving on. Do you mind me asking why you still live together?

I just got flowers...?

I just got a call from the receptionist, saying I just had flowers delivered. I do have a birthday coming up on Sunday. I have a boyfriend, which I doubt would send me flowers. I have a boss who is fond of sending flowers, but he typically forgets my birthday and will generally send flowers to our entire group....not just one of us.

Who could they be from?? Any guesses?

I can't go up to get them right now....I have to wait for a bit....

Do cats behave themselves around vases of flowers?

I want to have a floral arrangment delivered to my friend who's just moved into a new home. She and her husband have three cats. Is there anything special that I should keep in mind while choosing a bouquet?

Do cats behave themselves around vases of flowers?
don't get something that can be knocked over easily. some cats do behave, but others don't. also, make sure the flowers aren't poisonous to the kitties.

(have 3 cats, only one broken vase in 3 yrs.)
Reply:Keep in mind what type of lowers to get, a major poisonous flower is Lilies. Cats like to eat plants and lilies cause acute kidney failure-usually fatal after just a little bit of flower or pollen. Go to the ASPCA website and their poison control has a list of flowers that are poisonous, as well as what isn't.
Reply:In my experience, NO, they do not behave around them. If mine smell fresh flowers, they are all over it! But, I would also guess that your friends are used to dealing with this with their cats. Otherwise, I'd look for something a little less appealing to the kitties.
Reply:Don't get any flowers that are potentially poisonious if ingested.
Reply:i wish i could say yes but i often wake up to find smashed vases and trails of sick with bits of flowers. Cats will do anything to get to the flowers and the only thing you can do is glue them down.
Reply:nope srry
Reply:As a general rule - try to get something with a larger base and possibly an arrangement in a pot. Also things that hang far down - such as ribbons or ivy might not be a good idea. Most kitties will want to explore the new addition to the room, but they're not necessarily going to try and destroy it. If it can stand up to a head being rubbed on it and a little tugging, it should be relatively safe. My cats have chewed on a lot of plants so far. The only plant I know of that you have to be truly careful with is a poinsettia.

But I wouldn't worry too much. Your friends will surely find a safe spot to display the flowers where their kitties can't get to them.
Reply:Some cats leave house plants or cut flowers alone, some don't. My cat is very gentle and careful not to knock over a flower arrangement, but likes to eat some types of plants. She LOVES anything with baby's breath (but that's tacky anyways!) and will chew anything with large leaves. She generally leaves most flowers alone, particularly if they are very fragrant. One trick my Mom taught me was to get a pot of cat grass at the same time and encourage the kitty to eat her plants, not yours. It works well with her cat, but not as well with mine. I think it's up to the individual cat.
Reply:From my own experience cats tend to break vases and eat flowers so maybe think about sending a fruit basket. It is nice and the cats don't bother it much.
Reply:You should see which plants are dangerous to cats (there are many out there). You could look at any vet websites, ex. aspca.org. Try not to use a glass vase if you can, it will most likely break soon. Hope I helped.
Reply:how about a basket
Reply:Damn no !
Reply:You're kidding right? :-)

Our cats bahve themselves around flower arrangmeent, that is until we walk out fo the room, then it becomes a free for all. And of course, they will look innocnet when you walk back in and see the leave still falling tothe ground. :-)

Some flower are poisonous to cats too. I'm thinking that orchids are the ones that are very toxic, but not positive.
Reply:I have a few cats myself. Some of them leave plants alone, some don't. I learned along time ago that it was destined to have no plants in my home. For a house-warming gift, try something a little more practical. I personally wouldn't want flowers. Try somethign they can actually use in there new home.
Reply:not really it depends on what type it is
Reply:They might. Like people, all cats are not the same. Mine love to munch all flowers and will go to any length to get to them. I have completely given up on having them in my home because there is nowhere the kitties won't be able to get to them.

Here's another idea though - someone I know received one of these the other day and it was fantastic.
Reply:NO.
Reply:You might try a basket instead of a vase :) Harder to knock over.

Cats are very curious animals, so you might select flowers that won't be toxic if ingested.

Let us know how it goes! :)
Reply:if they have three cats they probably know how to handle them they will know where to put breakable things and where not to put them,
Reply:Cats are very interested in everything, especially smelly dangling flower pettles or leaves. They may not mean to knock over the vase but the flowers needed to go.
Reply:yes, don't do it. The cats will probably eat whatever you send making them sick or knock it over making a mess.

I would recommend a nice bottle of champagne instead.
Reply:They will knock it over as soon as they see it. If you get something that the cats aren't going to be poisoned from and if you make sure the vase has a very study bottom and is wide enough to not be tipped over that would be better than a traditional base. Good Luck!!!!!!!!

PS I am sure they could keep the cats in a room away from the flowers or vice versa....they could make it work I would send it.
Reply:cats are wild it depends on the cats personality and how they act arounf your furniture
