The least expensive way I have found to have flowers delivered is to call a florist in the town in which your Mom lives. Look for the names/numbers of the florists on the internet and call direct. You cut the "middle man" fees that way.

I am looking to deliver an ice cream cake to my girlfriend in Cottage Grove, MN. However, I am not sure if places deliver cakes or even ice cream cakes.

So does anyone know how I could accomplish this task? If at all?

I am looking to also send flowers and balloons though all of this doesn't have to be bundled, and it has to be an ice cream cake.

Reply:I wouldn't do that, unless he is a plant collector or works in the garden a lot. Traditionally, flowers are given from the guy to the girl. Instead of giving him flowers, make a CD with all his favorite songs and have a cook out for his birthday. It might offend him, even if he doesn't show it. But, it is sweet to think of doing something special for him.

Well, her favorite type of flowers are Lilies... And I've decided to go out, and buy her a bouquet of Lilies to celebrate the New Year... I did some research, and I came up with my own little message to include on the card... I just need some feedback, to see what other people think of this message...

I'd say no. Do you tip the UPS guy? Usually tipping is for those service-industry jobs that pay under min. wage, and the tips make up an actual part of their salary. The gratuity police won't arrest you for tipping the delivery guy, if you feel the need to, but I don't think it's expected. If you want to be completely sure, call the florist, ask to speak to the manager or owner and ask them.

I'd try www.1800flowers.com; however, I really don't think that other than a sympathy bouquet on clearance that you are going to get anything delivered for under $20. I have used this site many times and what they do is cooperate with a local florist and charge approximately $10 to deliver. You should probably just go to a local florist.

I can't find anyone able to deliver flowers to Scottsdale AZ for Mother's Day at this late hour. I waited too long to order. I tried a few national flower companies and they all say it's too late. I tried a few local shops but they're closed Sundays or don't deliver Sundays. HELP, my sister will kill me if i don't send my aging mother some flowers, and you know....Monday is too late!!!

The on line flower is just the same as any flower shop. They both do need a place: like an address to sent the flower to. How else is she going to get the flower. Without an physical address your best luck is to sent her e card. I think she would appreciate that. What's most important is that your thoughtfulness that counts. Best of luck.

He was a little embarrassed but enjoyed the havoc it created with the women in the office because most of them do not receive flowers. It created a memorable moment for everyone. I threw in a balloon and some candy too. In a way it was a payback for all the times he came in the bank I worked at with those very loud singing stuffed animals, flowers and balloons. The bank was very big and I was the front desk person. The loud echo from the songs and peoples stares were quite memorable to me, everyone laughed and I wanted to crawl under my desk. I want to make my fiance feel special on his bday/our anniversary the way flowers make a girl feel special when they're delivered to her. The only thing I can come up with is chocolate-covered fruit but he doesn't really like chocolate-covered anything. Any other suggestions? Normally, you would have them delivered. However, at almost every funeral the funeral director is at the door greeting people. Just give them to the funeral director and tell them which family they are for, cause sometimes more then one viewing is going on at a time.

Bring some kind of a dish instead. During a grieving period, people usually don't have the strength to cook much less the desire to eat, but they need to build up their energy. It is a more thoughtful thing to do.
Reply:I think that they should be brought prior to the viewing. It doesn't matter who delivers them. However, if you are bringing them while the viewing is going on that may seem abrupt. I like to send a plant to the grieving families home; because it costs the family to have those flowers disposed of. A plant holds more memory and it can be kept. I think it is sensless to spend that money when the majority of the flowers are tossed. More, and more people are choosing in lieu of flowers to donate to the deceased favorite charity or a cause that relates. Makes more sense to me.

its fine for you to hand deliver them before the funeral or if you wish leave them in the car and pop them onto the grave after the service. then its nice and pesonal. its up to you - don't worry about whats right or wrong -

although the florist will deliver them fresh on the morning of the funeral and you will therefore not be worrying about being in the way. or bumping into very close family members who are greiving - although i presume you are not only due to the fact that you have asked the question. sorry if i am wrong.

I had a job as a flower delivery. I was send to a funeral home, to deliver flowers. I asked them where I could leave the flowers, and they told me to put it in the cooler and pointed to some big metal doors. I was so scared to find dead bodies in there that I left the flowers in the hall way and toke off. I still can hear them laugh at me.

What is it like to be an undertaker for profession?
It's a chosen profession like anything else. Some are cut out for it and some aren't. I feel so sorry for you that they pulled that cruel joke on you. We would never do that to an outsider. We all had a sense of humor (you have to), but we were also very compassionate, hard working people. It wasn't originally my chosen field, and my parents thought I was crazy, but I've never regretted doing it for 17 yrs. At first it was 'fear of the unknown', but after adjusting, it was an amazing profession. Next time you go (preferably to another funeral home) ;) ask for a tour. It's much better to be familiar with one before you actually need one. They won't subject you to 'creepy' things.

Downside...making funeral arrangements for babies and children :(
Reply:You would get used to it just as they did most likely. I did know a guy who got out of the business because it got to him after a number of years though.
Reply:Well, there is the midnight shift, the long hours, darkness, weird noises, back breaking shoveling, the smell, ghosts, restless spirits, sleepless days, and the worst part-the ones that wake up. Apart from that, the pay is good, they give you the uniforms (black suits) we have a nice big ride with a lot of space for speakers, we get free flowers for our significant others, and free shoes.

I ordered from FTD online on 2/12/07. The website says the flowers were delivered, but they weren't.

The customer service line "isn't taking calls at this time" (so much for 24/hr a day service!)

I was wondering if there might be some widespread problem that has them all tied up?

I emailed customer service and have not received a response.

NOW I have to file a dispute with my credit card that will take 3-6 weeks to resolve.

I wil NEVER use FTD again!

Yeah, I had the same problem. I ordered flowers for my wife on the 8th, delivery was set for the 14th. Since it wasn't delivered I checked the tracking and it didn't leave the florist until the 14th. That was from Ohio, we live in California. I have no idea what they're thinking. I feel embarrassed having them show up a day late, even though my wife says she doesn't care. NO ONE I KNOW WILL EVER USE FTD AGAIN. If there was a problem with weather I can deal with that...but why did they leave the florist the day they were supposed to be delivered, and aren't there local shops they can be sent from? There are no weather problems in CA. An email or some form of communication would have been nice.

Reply:a lot of flower services had problems because most of the north east was hit with a horrible storm and it caused them to have to cancle deliveries and reschedule them for today. i would say if you dont get them today (or whomever was recieving them doesnt) call them again and get your money back. i know a few places were giving a $20 refund because of the problem

They are a reputable company so you shouldnt get screwed but use your credit card for online transactions because most CC companies will offer you protection from online fraud. Hope this helps...

I've gotten flowers from them and they came beautifully boxed and then I placed the flowers in the vase that was included and they got more beautiful each day because they are so fresh that they are still opening when they arrive. give them all her info...school address, what class and room she will be in (if you can find it out)..and they will deliver it.

since it's a college, and i'm guessing that it's pretty big, i would suggest that you call the school ahead of time and request that someone bring them in to her classroom...since it's valentines day i'm sure that a bunch of people are requesting this, so make sure you call earlier and make some type of an arrangement....otherwise they may just keep them in the office and have her pick them up after class.

On the other hand, nothing gets a gasp from a woman quicker than the tradtional dozen red roses. It's trite, but a very passionate and definite statement. Roses still may look like you just told the florist to "send whatever you usually send..."... I'd go for the carnations and alstromeria... get cream carnations with rose edges and rose colored alstromeria...it'll look like you put some thought into it.

Reply:well i usd to work fast food and it can be really hectic. if its during a rush or shes not on break she cant exactly take time away from her duties to sign for them and take them out to the car or whatever. id say its best to find out when her lunch hour is or what time she gets off and show up in person and give them to her. that way there isnt a line of angry customers wiating while she signs for them and then has no where to put them. those kitchesn have strict regulartions there is probably some rule where u cant have flowers in the food preparation part so she woujld have to find a place for them

I have used the site below to send my fiance and/or her family in Osaka many times. They service all of Japan. It's like FTD in the US. It's very secure and works well. Use the second link if you don't speak Japanese like me. They deliver very beautiful flowers at precisely the time you choose. It's a great service and very reasonable. Much less than using an American company that will charge as much as $200 to do the same thing.

My friend received a dozen roses from a secret admirer for Valentine's Day. She has no idea who they are from, however she works as a health professional and is concerned that it they may be from an unstable patient. She is wondering if the flower shop who delivered them will disclose the senders name or any other type of information. Is there some sort of florist code of ethics here? She is concerned for her safety as am I. Thanks.

It depends on how exactly the flowers were ordered... If the flowers were ordered on-line/ by phone and the florist that delivered them is simply a contractor they may not have any information regarding who ordered the flowers...

Your friend should contact the florist who delivered the flowers and ask them for any information they may have....

In the meantime your friends should place the flowers out of public view... If someone unstable did send them they will undoubtedly be encouraged if they see the flowers displayed...

Once I got flowers at work (my new husband didn't have a credit card and was out of town and asked me to buy flowers for myself and have them sent to work. I felt strange about doing that but he said he wanted me to be like the other girls and all of them had flowers, so at noon I ordered them.) When they arrived the supervisor came over to me and said "I know you bought those for yourself". I thought I'd die a thousand deaths. She had the nerve to call the florist and ask for the info. sigh

If there isa safety question invloved, I would call the manager of the store, tell them that you are concerned abou the person who sent them to you and ask if it was X. THey may or may not say and you need to be careful that you don't violate andy confidentially rules by using his name (i.e. can't say he is "unstable") If it is a really serious concern, go to the police and have thm trace the order.
Reply:well I don't know what the situation is but if she feels threatened by this person and this person has done something else...like show up at her door or call continuously she could file a police report. I had to do this when someone was stalking me. If it isn't that serious I wouldn't do it but you never know. The guy she filed against wouldn't find out unless he got in trouble. Then maybe the officer can ask the florist and they are more likely to tell him. If I were her I would explain the situation to the florist and they might tell you. If not, and other things happen, there is always the police.

I have a friend in the hospital who just had surgery and I wanted to send some flowers (he's a guy, but I don't know what else to send). The flower place will know what to do. I'm sure they've delivered there before. Just make sure you get his room number to give them. You can get that information by calling the front desk at the hospital.

You should take them in person, I'm sure he'll appreciate it even more.

If so go to your nearest florist and pick out what you would like and have them deliver it. If it isn't local, you can still go to the local florist and they will call the florist closest to his hospital and have them sent. You can also see some arrangements such as an FTD bouquet or something that they have done and tell them you want something like that. They can tell the other florist what you want as florist try to keep a variety on hand to duplicate arrangements shown in books. Of course some flowers may not be available due to seasons like tulips. They will often do it on the spot , but sometimes not, but you will know exactly what it is going to cost for the arrangement, the delivery fee and the wire fee. You just pay the local florist and the florists work out payment amongst the two of them. They are the go between and want to make you happy too. You can order from 1-800 flowers if you wish. They will have photos of arrangements on line. You would give them info on where to deliver and pay by credit card.

i don't want them showing up in a box, i want them to get there already arranged and everything. No opening a box involved.

online flower shops have contacts already with local flower shops. so as if anyone will order online, then they will just wire it to their local shops for delivery. but some online flower shops have their own shops too that's why some page have warnings like "no international delivery".

Reply:Absolutely. Though men tend to prefer what's called "High Style" or "Oriental" arrangements. Bright colors; stay away from pink and pastels. Striking flowers and textures are good - Bird of Paradise, miniature iris, protea, interesting greenery like Bear Grass, ...

Reply:I'd like it personally. It's a nice surprise. As for the "men don't like flowers" types, there's really not much else you can send him besides food. Which isn't a bad idea. If you send your husband some Pizza he'll enjoy it and will be able to share that more easily with his co-workers.

Since my friend graduated college, i decided to get her flowers and get them delivered from her local flower company......im in PA and she is in Wash DC......they gave me a price for the flowers (but i dont know if the person delivering them to her gets a tip).....obviously she is going to be suprised to get the flowers and probably not tip the guy.....is the tip included, or do i add one to the person bringing them??? i have no idea

The person receiving the gift is supposed to tip, but, yeah, when it's a surprise, it's possible she won't have any money on her. I know what you mean; I used to deliver pizzas, too, and was really annoyed when I got no tip. Gas ain't cheap...

I don't think you are expected to tip when you are the sender of the flowers, by the way.

Forget FTD and all the other on line flower people like Teleflora and others. They are generally NOT reliable! If you wish to send flowers, go to or call a local florist who can take your order and contact a florist in the town where the delivery will be made. This is the safest most reliable way.
Reply:I've ordered flowers from FTD after looking at the various pics of arrangements they have. The flowers that show up are often of poor quality for some reason. So I gave up on FTD and now just Google a florist in the town where I want them sent and order that way. I have even called the florist, told them to look at a pic of a bouquet on FTD's website, and they have made it perfectly!

So my advice, don't do FTD. Go to a local. You'll get a better deal. Just google florist and whatever town they are supposed to go.

The only problem I have heard of is sometimes the quality of flowers at the recipient florist are not as good as advertised. If you are really leary get the reciever to photograph the boquet and send you the pic.

i dated this girl i knew for about a year and a half, but then we broke up and went our seprate ways about a year ago, but everyday since then i cant stop thinking about her. not a day goes by that i dont think about her. even though i've thought about her for a year anyway, here for the past couple of days, i have had dreams about her and thinkin of her but not having her is putting me though hell. so my queation is:

To be honest with you - we learned the hard way that you don't celebrate it on Mother's Day. We have gone out to breakfast, brunch and dinner over the years only to be disappointed in the meals, prices which have been raised just for the occassion, and crowds. I am a mom - and I don't mind celebrating the day before. (I live in a Western Chicago suburb.) However, you might try golf courses or country clubs - they;re prices are usually lower I have found.

It certainly looks like you are qualified. However, Ivy League schools reject about 80% of the Qualified applicants. Therefore, you really need to stand out.

Extracurriculars are great -- but everyone has them, they are easy to pad and they are hard to verify. Therefore, it will be your interview and admissions essay that will be critical in determining if they want you.

The bad news is that odds are against you at any one particular great school. The good news is that you will almost certainly get into some great university.

Reply:Don't feel discourage. You resume looks very very good. And from what it seems, you are standing out with having self to do projects (those are always great). Columbia is very very competitive, and a sureway to increase your chances would be to have an awesome essay. if your grades or your extracurriculars don't make you standout, your essay will definitely make a difference because you are letting them get to know you without getting to meet you firsthand. Also, have great recommendations, and you are very very good standing. Good luck. Ps, have you also try running for a position in the clubs as oppose to being just a member (that will increase your chances as well). I work in a hotel in las vegas as a concierge on one of the 5 star hotel here and I have always do a good job like, im pleasant, I the town pretty well..anyway..we work for tips a lot of people in a hotel, restaurant business work for tips..Being a concierge for 2 years now. I have not ever got a tip more than 5 bucks from the people from UK or European countries.. is that just their culture? oh and the reason why I got my $5.00 is because, i booked a Flight to hawaii for them 5 people and a hotel accomodations for 5 days, made dinner reservations for them for hawaii for 4 nights and on top of that, make dinner reservations for their stay in las vegas nevada and also shows and also deliver flowers. Yes it is part of my job to please them, but, if you ask way too much of a favor you better tip us. we people in this kind of business work for tips.

Well in the U.K and europe the tip is Always included in the bill its common standards there to tip waiters and such are highly respected and so the tips are included in the bill weather the customer likes it or not lol

so they might not realize that their even making a mistake by not tipping you and figuring that the tip is included in the bill

I'm from Australia and tipping is very rarely done here. If you bought dinner, coming to $135, you might just give the cashier/waiter $150 and leave the change, but even that's not common, or expected.

Over here, because tipping isn't expected, the waiters/servers etc are paid more, rather then having to rely on tips (which, I personally, think makes more sense).

You may have to be tolerant of people of other cultures who don't tip, because it is a completely foreign concept to them. HOWEVER, I think these people are jerks for not researching YOUR culture before visiting you and tipping appropriately. They are, after all, guests in your country.
Reply:This question is asked all the time, Europeans don't tip because ALL the service staff in Europe are paid good wages you should all go on strike until the management pays you sufficient money so you don't require tips. It is all your own fault, $10 for making a dinner reservation, you must be kidding, if you were to put your hand out for money for that then you surely have a brass neck, if you expected that on the continent you would wait for ever.

Reply:Oh yeah, I use to have a long distance relationship, and now we're married! Does she do things for you too? If not, ask her that you'd like her to. You can write her letters! Don't call her for a whole day or two! Then when she checks her mail she'll find your letter!! You could also take a local art class and make her something, pottery or an actual art piece for her to hang and/or display where she lives so she'll always be reminded of what she has! First, you can do that. Girls love it when they are made to feel special.

Second, you have to introduce yourself in the message for her to know you and for you to know if she feels the same way.

Third, u deserve to be happy. if you won't do it u will forever wonder if things have worked out for both of you if you had just sent the flowers.

There have now been quite a few occasions in my life where I have felt the need to pray to God, and he answers me. I have to be careful what I ask for. I'm more agnostic than anything, but when I pray for non-materialistic things, he answers me. EG: One day I asked God for girls to send me flowers. Girls began to deliver flowers to me at work, the wrong girls mind you, but it seems God has a sense of humour?

What do you Christians make of all this?

Believing in God does not necessarily make you a Christian. For a long time I was agnostic, then I realized that I do believe in God, just not the Bible or any other organized religion really.

I think that you do believe there's a God, or you HOPE there is. That's why you pray. You're still trying to figure out exactly what it is you believe; whether it's the Bible word for word, or believe in the Bible's message, but not literally word for word.

His children are His children ONLY because of Jesus Christ.

If you do not believe in Jesus Christ, you do not know the Father, and are therefore wicked.

OK....I am going to get my GF roses for valentines day and I want them delivered to her work. Thing is she leaves for a vacation on the 15th so she really woundnt be able to enjoy them. My dilema is do I:

Oh yeah. I love that too. Seeing someones face when you give them something sweet or sentimental. The best face I have ever seen was my old supervisor. One day she was sitting telling me about a song her grandfather used to sing to her when she was a little kid and she couldn't remember the words but she remembered the title and that it was about a girl and she was called Pretty Poppy. When I went home I googled it and it came up. I typed it out on some really pretty paper and put an old picture of a young woman and poppies on it. I got a frame and framed it and when I gave it to her she said she was touched and her eyes welled up with tears and she had huge a big smile on her face. It made my day! ;)

I love doing that sort of stuff for people as I am an extremely sentimental person.

My Mom will be in the hospital on Mother's Day. I can't take her out to eat, can't deliver flowers (hospital regulations), a card just isn't enough, she's not into CD's or DVD's, and I don't know what I could get her. Gift cards for tanning and active stuff is pretty much out of the question since she has had 17 surgeries and doesn't get out much.

Time, give her books, magazines, sudoko puzzles, your time like spending every day with her at certain time for mother's day.

Pj's for hospital, robe, toothbrush, hairbrush. Cookie cake, or some really cool food. See if the hospital has somebody you could pay to give her a hand massage to relax while she's there.

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

if your buying it in bulk it's sold in yards, you should need bout 1 yard maybe a little more for your application

This question is about floral deliveries. I deliver flowers for a living. One of my duties is dilivering flowers to funeral homes. I will say this, every funeral home I deliver too has a room for flower deliveries for funerals that also doubles as a place where they place the decease until cremation and/or services. They are usually nude and covered with a sheet over them. I have seen many other delivery men from other flower shops sneek a peek at the female deseased bodies. So here is the poll. Have you ever worried about how you will be judged by floral delivery men after you are deceased?

Basically, I wanted to be with him all of the time and so did he at first, but then of course he wanted to do little things apart, and at the time i didnt want to be apart from him. we argued probably once a week for 2 months after he moved in, and then he suddenly quit his job and moved back to where he lived, 2 hours away. I still love him so much, and i know that he's gotta still love me. we've been on a break for almost two weeks, and i am going crazy without him. I think that an e-mail would be sufficient enough, tell him your true feelings and that you are sorry and want to work things out, don't sound too desparate, and 7 pages wow, he might think that is too much and chances are with it being that long he may not even read it. I know if I received a 7 page letter I might read the first 2 pages, then put it down, not every body likes to read that much, just get to the point and if he turns you down, give him some space and if he really loves you, he will come around on his own. The best thing for you to do is to call customer service and speak to someone who works there and let them know what happened. More than likely, they will probably refund your order for the full amount or give you a coupon to take a certain dollar amount or percentage off of your next order.

whilst i was dangling out windows and hanging from trees, being an apprentice to my husband with his christmas lights annual ritual. i got a great big bouquet of flowers delivered for our wedding anniversary, which is tomorrow. how nice is that?

Sorry about your friend. that is very sad! I am glad to know that she survived. 42,000 people are killed by car accidents each year. Your friend is very fortunate. if you are a Christian this would be a good time to talk to her about death and her need to be right wtih God.

I would suggest a card that you pick out yourself from the store, some candy (if she can chew), and a movie that you can both watch in the room. *You might have to pick up a cheap 20$ dvd player at the store and the cable for it - to plug into the hospital tv... or you can bring your laptop.

I am sure she would appreciate a chick flick and time spent with her good friend.

all my life I have not once gotten roses delivered to me, I am 42, and no one has ever delivered me flowers, Every guy who takes me out I ask them to bring flowers, Or I ask guys that i know deliver flowers to me, please, But I never get them, and am I saying or asking the wrong thing? This is truly an odd situation and at 42 you are legitimately asking a good question. I have no idea, nor do I have any smartalic remarks for this one. I have always bought flowers for women in my life so this really surprises me. Good luck with this.
Reply:You musn't be direct. If you say straight out to a guy "please bring me some flowers" it'll get his back up. Instead why not focus on him - ask him what kind of thing he likes to be given as small gifts - then just ever so casually mention that you like flowers. The key is to be subtle and casual. If that doesnt work get him a book "the 5 love languages" which might make him think about what pleases you.

When I was in my early 20's, I was in the military. When I met an attractive (Even not TOO hideous) woman (Beggars can't be choosy), I would send her flowers. I thought that with the male/female ratio being something like 1000:1 that I would need something to set me apart from the rushing pack.

Reply:first of all it takes time to rebuild the trust, you have to rebuild it, i suggest you start off being completely honest about what you did and why. then end the relationship with the other woman. if you have a cell phone either shut it down or have number changed and unlisted so you can not be contacted by her again. u by your conduct have suggested to her that you are no longer committed to the relationship. and that is putting questions an doublt into her mind. be calm about the whole situation, and try to rebuild the trust

A few years ago I was dating this girl named Heather and she was having a realllllllllly bad week. So I had flowers delivered to her work, but that wasn't the romantic thing. See I had her roomate help me out and we decorated their living room like Italy (part of why she was having a lousy week was because her parents went to Italy and took her younger sister but not her). I then prepared a meal (I made lasagna, and we had french bread to go with it. Desert was strawberries and chocolate). She came home to find that her front door was covered in little paper hearts and inside there I was with this candle light dinner. It was a beautiful evening. We talked and laughed and it was great. I also got her a very pretty necklace.

I think I just melted into a little puddle.

I've never done extravagant things.. I'm about simple romance. I have plans to write out some long cute sentence to my boyfriend on post it notes.. and stick them in places he will see throughout the day (on his steering wheel, in his favorite hat, wallet, etc.) and at the end of the day he gets to put them together to see what I wrote.

Also, one year for Christmas I went with the 12 days of Christmas and a treaure hunt (I'm a dork, I know). The first gift, 12.. (I don't know what the heck it was.. maybe tokens for a video arcade or something?).. then there'd be a clue such as "you'll find 11 wrapped up in our favorite blanket" to lead him to the crock that holds all of the blankets in my house.

I get flowes every Thursday.

Sometimes just a random bunch, sometimes a posy, sometimes an arrangement fom the florist, and sometimes just a single rose from his own garden...

Sometimes delivered and other times he gives it to me personally, but somehow he makes sure that I get flowers every Thursday....

Cake and flower delivery?

I'm having an outdoor ceremony at 5:00pm and reception following....any ideas of what time I should have the cake and flowers delivered?

Cake and flower delivery?
Cake delivery should take place by 4pm while your caterer is there to help coordinate where placement should be. It should arrive earlier if the cake needs to be put together or finishing touched done on location.

Flowers should be delivered in the late morning/early afternoon. This way the staff has time to set flowers for the ceremony %26amp; get bouquets and the like to the bridal party. Then flowers for the reception can be put in a cool place until the catering staff is ready to set the tables. All flowers should be out no later than 4pm for the ceremony %26amp; 4:30 for the reception.
Reply:Cake 2pm that way even if they're late you still have enough time to set things up. Flowers if they have alot do set up then morning is better.

I would have the flowers there around 3:30 and the cake, depending on the weather, delivered around 4:30. You're going to want to put some to work on putting it together and keeping it cool. Also, do you have a wedding coordinator or anyone who can keep things in order for you?

Reply:If the ceremony begins at 5, then guests will probably start getting there around 430 ... you will need the flowers for pictures which would probably be around 230 or so. Your location should have a place to keep the cake so it doesn't have to sit outside. If they cake gets there at 330 that would be perfect. The location will probably need an hour or so to set up so you need to make sure everything is there for them when they begin.
Reply:couple hours before hand just put the cake in a cool place till its needed and for the flowers keep cool also until needed
Reply:Depending on the amount of flowers I would go any sooner than an hour before your ceremony or they can wilt, I would maybe even wait on the cake up unitl 15 minutes before so the icing don't melt.
Reply:LOL. It has been my experience that the vendors tell you what time they can deliver. They may ask when your venue will be available or open to them, but they usually have their own timetable going (and other customers waiting for their services).

I would ask . . . not tell them. For example, "My wedding venue is available to us at 3:00 pm. The wedding starts at 5. What time will you be able to deliver the cake?"

Always be very nice and very polite to your vendors, LOL.

Reply:About 1:00....so you can be prepared in case something goes wrong,but keep both cake and flowers in a cool place,ask the people who you buy the from this question.
Reply:If it's still hot then I wouldn't have the cake delivered too early or the icing might melt. Can you see the reception area from where the cermony will be held? I'd have the cake delivered as close to the last minute as possible. Maybe 4:15 - 4:30. Talk to your cake decorator and see what she thinks. I used to decorate cakes but I don't really know about flowers. All I can recommend is to talk to your florist.
Reply:you probably shouldn't have the cake delivered until like 7 or 8 so that it doesn't melt sitting outside for hours before you make it. the table can be set up and decorated and the cake can be brought in while everyone is eating dinner.

Only because if something is wrong or you are missing a flower piece, it can be corrected in time and you won't have to stress out that you are missing a bridesmaid bouquet or your groom's flower. Plus, you always want to tell vendors earlier than you need so if they get stuck in traffic or something.

Make sure you can keep the cake and flowers refrigerated.

Unless you got a fondant cake - then you don't need to keep it cold.

It’s a wonderful gift idea.

Here is how you can do it. Find a local box supplier; you need to get a vertical box which is just a bit longer then the length of you bouquet. I will include a vase (one with a thicker glass) to hold the flowers so that they don't move too much. Sprinkle some water and cover with floral paper. Get couple gel ice pack from your local medical store and freeze them well. Now place the vase with the flowers and the frozen ice packs in the box. Make sure you secure the ice packs and vase by a tape or something and use next day air with FedEx OR DHL.

I only hung out with this girl twice through another friend and we got along really well. She seemed like she liked me. After that we fell out of touch. I met her again a party the other night and I was drunk. I forgot her name and she seemed to get upset about it. I remembered it later. Anyway, I realized I liked her that night. She's going through a rough time because her friend is in the hospital. Today I sent her a bouqet of flowers (not roses) to cheer her up. I wrote on the card, "Smile, Kassi.." "From the guy who's very sorry he forgot your name." They should've delivered them hours ago. We didn't know each other that well, was it a bad idea that I sent them? We have no means of contacting each other except by Myspace right now and I guess I thought she's get on and send me a message or something, but she hasn't. I'm concerned that maybe I freaked her out or something. What do you think?

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole, which she carried across her neck.

I'm not sure I want to send flowers because I don't even know how that would go over with my boyfriend. I want to send something to his work just to let him know I'm thinking of him. I love getting flowers but do guys???? I want to ask him how he'd feel but I'd want it to be a surprise. Should I just send a card or something???? Or what else could I send???? He loves Nike Dunks so I was thinking of ordering a pair and getting them delivered there because he'd be so surprised. it depends on the man, but normally they just don't appreciate flowers as much as us girls do. the gesture, however, is almost always appreciated. if he's into video games you could buy him a cool new game like GTA4 and drop it off at his work with a bow and a note. this can work with pretty much whatever your guy happens to be into. It's alot cuter if it's something small, like the game or baked goods or something like that, i'd say save the shoes for a special occasion like his birthday or your anniversary :)

I went to Flower Expo and ordered a bouquet for a funeral. I specified the colors I wanted and also the flowers even the ribbon to be placed on it. I asked for blue flowers and specified carnations white in color and the tips dyed blue with palms in the back ground. The owner showed me some flowers he had but I said no because they were not blue they were purple. He assured me he knew exactly what I would like and he would arrange them himself. When I paid for them I also paid delivery for this memorial gave the address to be delivered to got a reciept and left. Well to make my point I was so devestated when I got to the memorial the whole arrangement was with pink roses orange orchids and the flowers I told him were not blue. He refuses to give me a refund and says I should of took them back how many people do you know of that would carry away flowers meant for the dead and tell the family I HAD TO TAKE THEM BACK. So me and this girl have been seeing eachother exclusively for almost 4 months and we've been talking since end of last year. As to why we're not officially together, it's not because im afraid to commit it's more that im afraid to ask her because sometimes i get the feeling she isn't ready and I don't want to jump the gun and scare her away. But we're really close and show affection in public and stuff. Anyway, her birthday is coming up and she invited me to her party that her family and friends usually have for her and I'm certain I want to give her flowers but should I send them or bring them to her personally. I feel like I want to bring them to her personally but I don't want to give her family the idea that we're in a serious relationship because I don't know how she feels about the idea yet and that maybe it would be more subtle if I had them delivered that morning. Could this be her way of introducing me to her family on that serious relationship term?

Yesterday I ordered flowers from a local shop and was planning to pick them up today and hand delivering them to a girl that I have been hanging out with here and there for the last few months. She knows that I'm interested in her.

Anyway she was gone the whole week on a business trip and just got in last night. Before I could get to ask her to go to dinner with me tonight she fell asleep. I asked her in email (she is at work) if she wants to have dinner tonight and she said she has Acting Class tonight (not a college/univ class).

What should i do about flowers that were mis-sent to my home?

i ordered flowers from ftd.com for my mother and paid extra money so that they would be delivered ON TIME to my mom who lives with me. Well, today, my mother got her flowers (a day late). They were left with a neighbor while we were out of the house. There was a SECOND vase of flowers that i did NOT order. At first i thought that was their compensation for being a day late, until i saw a card that had another persons name on it. when i looked up the person on white pages.com and then mapquested her (to see if she was nearby so i could take them to the right house) i found out she was a 65 year old woman..who lives ACROSS TOWN and in a less-than-safe area of town. What should i do? Who do i contact? i mean, ftd.com handles the orders but they're sent from local shops that aren't disclosed on the card. i feel simply awful for not taking them to her, but i'd have 3 kids with me and i don't want to risk taking them into a part of town thats known for being unsafe. what do i do?

Contact FTD, they will be able to rectify the situation. It is not up to you to deliver the flowers, not to mention if they were just left at your house it is nice enough that you are trying to help the flowers get to the person who they were bought for.

As for your late flowers I hope that you get some sort of compensation (monetary) for the flowers you purchased for your mom. I have had this happen to me and I ended up with the flowers being free and I also worked at a well known national florist company and they always rectified complaints, usually with some sort of credit and coupon for your next order.

It is not your business to deliver the flowers to the right person. But it is courteous to let the florist know about the mistake.

When I was employed (rather than owning my own business) I saw only things like a large chocolate chip cookie and a cake with something nicely written on it. Sure you could have some cheerleader come and sing a song for him, but wouldn't it be better if you all just got together to surprise him with a cake in the coffee room? proflowers.com claims to deliver anywhere in the world. I ordered tulips for a friend from them on Valentine's Day, and they came absolutely gorgeous. They have really reasonable rates, and right now you can get a discount if you click on their microphone in the corner of the website and type in CW.

Yes Dusty what to do, Go down the street,(Best to get up early) Look for the nicest flower bed your Neighbors have! (Hopefully you don't get along) Quickly pick a nice Handful, Hide them in the garage. Take your $35.00 to K-Mart and buy some ribbon for $1.00! Make a nice Bouquet for Mom and Take Mom out to Breakfast with the Rest of your money! She'll think you are the darling Son! You'll have enough left over to tip the waitress who id probrably a hard working Mother! Of course Do this at your own Risk. I can't bail yoou out if you get caught? My parents live 1200 miles away from me..... Mother's day mom gets flowers.... Father's day dad gets a cookie "boquet"..... they gotta be tired of the same old crap by now!!!! Anyone out there know about any other cool stuff that can be delivered? I had a really negative experience recently with both Chang Florist %26amp; Siam Florist and I'm hoping to find a good delivery service for the future.

I ordered a very cute teddy bear for my GF in Thailand (and what I thought was a high-quality product based on the photo), but what was delivered to her on Valentine's Day was an obvious, cheap inferior product. I used Chang Florist for this order. I contacted Chang Florist, but they ignored my emails. And I ended up paying $50 for about a $2 teddy bear.

Previously, I had used Siam Florist to deliver flowers to her, but they recently tried to price gouge me by doubling the price of the order without my authorization. What I mean is that I ordered flowers for $42.95, but they charged my credit card $86.95 without my acknowledgement! I complained, of course, and got the charge reveresed, but I was left with the impression that they are not a reputable company to use.

Has anyone used a American company perhaps that operates in Thailand?

Yeah ok -- so get this -- both my bf and i buy gifts for each other from 1800-Flowers, advertised here on Yahoo. We both place our orders to be delivered yesterday in aticipation that it would be very busy today.

Not only did neither one of us get them yesterday do to some poor excuses, but it is 6:15 pm PST time in CAlifornnia and we both still do not have them and are needing to go to dinner soon which means that we probably will not get them today.

Now not only is the surprise gone,but while everyone else has their gift, our wellplanned ones on our part, never made it. Thank you 1800-Flowers
